Doonside Launch site details

Directions

Entrance to launch site is on the Great Western Hwy.

The ideal way to enter this path is to travel easterly along the Great Western Highway. Turn into the driveway where the large old gates are.

A couple of metres to the right, there is a 2nd gate and this is the entry point. The gate will be locked with a combination lock as we are required to keep it closed at all times. There will be a sign on the gate with a contact number. Please call this number for access details.

After you go through the gate, please close it behind you.

Follow the path, keeping to the left until you reach the launch area.

It is also possible to enter travelling along the Great Western Highway in a westerly direction.

There is a break in the island where it says ‘No U Turn’.
When you see the gates, don’t do a u-turn (obviously) but turn right into the driveway. This is a 80 KPH zone so be mindful of any cars behind you and when you cut across the other lane the cars will be moving quicker than they appear .

Note

It is essential to keep the driveway clear. Also - Don't stop with your arse hanging out on the road, someone will take it off.

Another club has facilities at this site so please keep away from their gear.

Toilets

There are no amenities at Doonside launch site. Use the service stations at either end of Doonside road.

(Don't try to use a shovel, this is a public park, even we get to walk through the scrub, the last thing we want to find is a bog hole.)

There is a temporary toilet facility that belongs to another club. It is normally locked. Please do not use it.
